About Ask Steve

Ask Steve is an AI chatbot trained on Steve Radford's YouTube videos. It's there for quick answers about motorhomes, kit, routes, and the family's travel history, the stuff Steve has talked about on camera at length.

What it's good for

  • Motorhome and campervan questions: layouts, weights, builds, mods
  • Kit recommendations Steve actually uses
  • Where the Radfords have been, and which campsites and aires they liked
  • Sponsor recommendations (Bluetti, Surfshark, Sterling, and others)
  • General chat in Steve's voice

What it is NOT

  • Steve himself. He doesn't see or moderate every answer.
  • Authoritative on financial figures, brand-deal specifics, or anything Steve hasn't covered publicly on the channel.
  • A substitute for getting in touch with the family directly: for that, use the contact page.

How it works

  • Trained on transcripts from every public Steve Radford video (∼1.5M words).
  • Uses retrieval-augmented generation: when you ask a question, the system finds the most relevant video chunks and synthesises an answer in Steve's voice.
  • Some answers are cached for speed. We log every Q&A for review so we can catch mistakes and tighten the prompts over time.
  • Built and maintained by Eddie, Steve's eldest. If you spot something wrong, click the 👎 below any answer, it goes straight to the review queue.

Privacy

  • Questions and answers are logged for 90 days for quality review.
  • IP addresses are logged for abuse prevention only and never displayed in the admin viewer.
  • Flagged answers (via 👎) are kept for 365 days so we can audit patterns.
  • We don't share Q&A data with third parties. The full privacy policy at roamingradfords.com/privacy applies.

What “Steve” isn’t allowed to say

  • Specific financial figures, brand-deal fees, or anything Steve hasn't publicly stated on the channel
  • Private details about the family beyond what's been openly shared
  • Anything that misattributes guest-interview content (Dave the trimmer, Phil the engineer, etc.) as Steve's own experience

Who’s responsible

Steve. It's his name and voice. If the bot says something wrong, that's on him to fix, the engineering is just the plumbing.

Built with care by Eddie Radford.
