2026 Dethleffs XL Family
Ordered in October 2025; took delivery in early March 2026, our next coach-build, and the replacement for the Kon-Tiki. German-built, proper family layout, and the Grand Alpa is still the dream for further down the road.

Ordered in October 2025 and picked up in early March 2026. We have been in it since.
First upgrade we did: VB four-corner full air suspension, fitted shortly after collection. The Alko chassis starts at 5,400 kg, we had it upgraded to 5,500 kg at the same time. The VB kit adds 86 kg to the van but it gives full auto-levelling and the ability to raise the van for entering and exiting ferries cleanly.
What is working well: the cupboard space is a step up from the Kon-Tiki, the auto gearbox makes a long driving day less tiring, and the German build quality is noticeable from the outset.
This is early days. We are still finding our feet with it. As a like-for-like step up from the 874 in terms of capability and space for a family doing serious European mileage, it is looking like the right choice.
